The Forum of State Chairmen of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) categorically and unequivocally rejects any attempt, direct or indirect, to usurp the constitutional powers vested in the duly elected and legally recognized National Chairman of our great Party, Alhaji Shehu Musa Gabam (Makaman Tilde) and condemned impersonation under any guise
In a press statement signed by the secretary Forum of SDP State Chairmen, Hon. Danlami Musa for and unbehalf of the forum on 18th August, 2025.
According to the statement: Danlami Musa said that Forum of SDP State Chairmen strongly condemn the audacious move by Dr. Sadiq Umar Abubakar Gombe, an impostor acting without legal authority, to convene a purported national meeting scheduled for Thursday, 21st August 2025. Let it be firmly established that only the National Chairman, through the National Secretary, holds the constitutional mandate to summon meetings of any organ of the Party.
This illegal maneuver, is not only a gross violation of the Party’s constitution but also an affront to democratic principles and the rule of law. It represents a desperate act of impersonation and a reckless attempt to destabilize the unity and integrity of the SDP, he said
The Forum of SDP State Chairmen reaffirms our unwavering commitment to constitutional order, party discipline, and the rule of law. We are responsible, law-abiding leaders who will not be manipulated, coerced, or deceived into participating in any illegality or unconstitutional assembly, he maintained.
SDP State Chairmen reaffirms it’s stand on the constitutional provisions of the party, “let it be known, both within and outside the Party, that any gathering convened under false pretenses and without constitutional backing is null, void, and of no consequence whatsoever”, he warned.
The Social Democratic Party must remain a bastion of democratic ideals and we, as State Chairmen, stand united behind the defense of our constitution, our structures, and our values.
