Hon. Uche Ben Odunzeh, the governorship candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in the 2023 Imo State Governorship Election, has officially resigned his membership from the party in what many political observers have described as a significant development in the evolving opposition landscape.
Speaking during an interview with newsmen, Hon. Uche Ben Odunzeh described his resignation as a strategic and principled political decision, driven by resilience, courage, and an unwavering commitment to sustainable development, justice, and people-oriented leadership.

According to him, his resignation is not an act of retreat, but rather a clear demonstration of loyalty to the political ideology and progressive vision built on progress, sincerity of purpose and national rebirth.
Hon. Odunzeh stated that the current realities in the nation demand stronger political alignment, deeper ideological commitment, and broader collaboration among patriotic opposition forces who are genuinely committed to rescuing Nigeria from bad governance, economic hardship, and systemic decline.
He emphasized that his next political steps will be focused on joining forces with like-minded figures across the country in the collective struggle to build a better Nigeria anchored on growth, equity, justice, development, and national renewal.
He further urged his supporters, political associates, and the good people who believe in his vision to remain resolute, steadfast, and hopeful, noting that true leadership is not defined by party platforms alone, but by the courage to stand consistently for the people, positive transformation, and the future of the nation.
Hon. Odunzeh reaffirmed that his political ideology remains firmly rooted in service, inclusiveness, accountability, and the pursuit of a Nigeria that works for all.
His resignation and political realignment are already generating conversations among supporters, stakeholders, and members of the opposition bloc, as many see the move as part of a broader repositioning ahead of future political engagements.
